Bengaluru's Fyllo Is Teaching Farms to "Speak" Through Sensors and AI
Fyllo, founded in 2019 by Sudhanshu Rai and Sumit Sheoran and based in Bengaluru, is an agritech company applying IoT, AI, and machine learning to precision agriculture. Its on-field devices use sensors to continuously gather real-time data from soil, crop canopy, and environmental conditions.
That data feeds into more than 100 agronomy models covering over 20 different crops, generating recommendations on irrigation, nutrient management, pest and disease control, and weather-related risk - all delivered through a mobile app available in multiple Indian languages.
One of Fyllo's standout features is its disease prediction model, which forecasts crop diseases in advance so farmers can act preventively rather than reactively. The company's approach has been linked to improvements in crop yield and quality, alongside reductions in input costs and chemical usage.
For students, Fyllo is a good example of how AI's most impactful uses in India often aren't glamorous - they're deeply practical tools built for people who don't have time or margin for error, translated into simple, local-language interfaces.
